Candidate’s interactions encourage children’s communication skills
  1. Promotes children’s language development through her/his verbal and non-verbal communications
Materials: 
  • A favorite children’s book
  • Post-it notes
  • Marker
Procedure: 
  1. Read a classroom favorite book to your class. On each page (or as many as possible) challenge children to identify emotions in the characters in the book.
  2. Write the name of the emotion on the post-it and put it in the book.
  3. When you read the book next time, point out and discuss those identified emotions and ask children to act them out!    
Assessment: 
  • Observe and record children’s ability to understand and identify the emotions of the characters.
